7-Year-Old's Kidnapping Story Leaves Jaipur in Tears, 'Gum' Play Strikes an Emotional Chord

Ananya soch: Kala Karma Production House staged a powerful theatre play titled "Gum" at Ravindra Manch, Jaipur, on Sunday evening. Directed by Vipin Sharma, the play featured child actor Arvik Bairathi Aarav Modi, Pradeep Solanki, Pratham Mittal, Rahul Sahni, Vaibhav Verma, Aman Tanwar, Dikshit Sahu, Harsh Lakshkar, Paranjay Fatehpuria, Krish, Vicky Chanwaria and Jitesh Sharma in a lead role. The storyline revolves around the kidnapping of a 7-year-old boy named Arvik, gripping the audience from the very first scene to the last.
The play tackled an extremely sensitive and thought-provoking issue, the growing crisis of missing children in India. It raised a startling question from the stage, in 2026 alone, Jaipur has already reported 150 missing children. Across Rajasthan, the number has crossed 2,000, and nationwide, the figure runs into lakhs. The play posed a direct and uncomfortable question to the audience, where do these children go? Why does nobody seem to have answers?
Through powerful performances, the cast delivered a deeper social message, that we often remain indifferent until such a tragedy knocks on our own doorstep. It is only when we lose someone close to us that we truly understand the pain of that empty space. The play took a sharp jab at society's silence and apathy toward missing children cases, leaving the audience deeply moved and reflective.
