Banks Told to Fight Cyber Fraud and Fuel "Viksit Rajasthan@2047" Dream: Inside the 170th SLBC Meet

Ananya soch: The 170th meeting of the State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC) Rajasthan was held on Thursday, co-chaired by Chief Secretary V. Srinivas and SLBC Chairman Sanjay V. Mudaliar, who also serves as Executive Director of Bank of Baroda. The meeting brought credit growth, financial inclusion, and government scheme implementation under one roof for detailed deliberation. Srinivas made it clear that banks cannot chase credit growth numbers alone — financial inclusion has to walk hand in hand, ensuring institutional financial services reach every corner of society. He stressed that the banking sector holds a critical stake in Rajasthan's inclusive economic story and must actively back the state's welfare schemes.

Loan Disbursement Under the Scanner

The Chief Secretary pushed banks to ensure maximum loan disbursement under central and state employment-oriented and credit schemes, calling it essential to hit the growth targets laid out under the 'Viksit Rajasthan@2047' vision. He also directed that priority-sector lending be closely tracked through DLRC and DLCC meetings at the district level, so that no district is left behind in credit distribution. Four pillars — Yuva Shakti, Nari Shakti, Annadata, and Good Governance — were flagged as the core focus areas where banks need to step up their game.

Cyber Fraud Emerges as a Key Concern

With cyber financial crimes on the rise, the Chief Secretary called for tighter cooperation between banks, police, and other departments to crack down on fraud cases. SLBC Chairman Mudaliar backed this up by sharing updates on the 1930 Cyber Crime Call Centre and the 'Smart Banking and Safe Banking 2.0' campaign, both aimed at making banking safer for the common citizen. He also revealed a major digital push — the state, with RBI's support, has now linked the Unified Lending Interface (ULI) with the e-Dharti portal, simplifying how loan entries get recorded in land records.

Annual Credit Plan and Scheme Progress Reviewed

The meeting also took stock of the Annual Credit Plan for 2026-27 and reviewed how banks are performing on employment, financial inclusion, and social security schemes. While the overall performance drew appreciation, officials urged banks to keep up the momentum in the coming quarters. The Reserve Bank of India and Rajasthan Police's Cyber Crime Branch also gave presentations during the session, which saw participation from senior officials including Dr Debashish Prushti, Nalin Saxena, Vijay Kumar Singh, and representatives from NABARD and various banks.
