3-Day Deadline, Then No Mercy: Rajasthan Launches Massive Crackdown on Illegal Vehicle Modifications Under CM Bhajanlal Sharma’s Zero Tolerance Policy

Ananya soch: In a major move aimed at strengthening Road Safety and curbing criminal activities, the Rajasthan government has announced a statewide crackdown on illegally modified vehicles. Acting under the Zero Tolerance Policy of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the Transport and Road Safety Department has given vehicle owners just three days to remove unauthorized modifications before strict enforcement begins.

Officials say illegally modified vehicles are often used for drug trafficking, unlawful transportation, and other criminal activities. Concerns have also been raised over vehicles carrying intimidating symbols, unauthorized lighting systems, and altered number plates that make identification difficult during investigations.

According to the Transport Department, a large number of vehicles across the state are operating with illegal modifications such as Black Film, Pressure Horns, Air Horns, unauthorized Red-Blue Beacons, Flashers, Hooters, and non-standard Number Plates. Such modifications not only violate the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, but also pose serious threats to public safety.

The department has made it clear that no changes can be made to a vehicle’s original structure, chassis, body, colour, dimensions, or seating capacity without legal approval. Any modification that differs from the manufacturer’s approved specifications will be treated as illegal. Authorities have also warned that vehicles found with unauthorized beacon lights, sirens, or sound devices may face immediate action, including removal of the equipment, fines, and even suspension or cancellation of driving licences.

Special attention will be given to vehicles using dark window tints. Owners found using excessive Black Film or displaying unauthorized stickers, monograms, symbols, and writings on vehicle bodies will also face penalties.

The campaign will additionally focus on High Security Registration Plates (HSRP). Fake, unreadable, or tampered number plates will be considered serious violations, attracting challans, vehicle seizure, and possible suspension of registration.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said preventing criminal misuse of vehicles and ensuring road safety remains the government’s top priority. With only three days left for compliance, authorities have made one thing clear—after the deadline, strict legal action will follow without exception.
