A Car Ride Back from Kota Gave Jaipur The Kala Manch; Now 'Ghazalnama' Is Set to Enchant the City

Ananya soch: What began as a casual idea during a journey has now become a fixture on the Pink City's cultural calendar. According to Rajesh Sharma of The Kala Manch Jaipur, the Ghazal Night 'Ghazalnama' will take place tomorrow, with renowned artist Jaswant Singh set to perform.

An Idea Born on the Road from Kota

Sharma recalls that about a year ago, in September, he and his colleagues satinder singh travelled to Kota for the inauguration of a chapter of the International Fellowship of Rotarian Musicians (IFRM). On the drive back, the idea came up: why not create a platform for Jaipur that showcases Indian classical and folk dance, Bollywood dance and more? The team decided that established names and emerging talent would share the same stage. That is how The Kala Manch Jaipur was born.

Ghazalnama: The Third Step

The organisation has already held two events. In January, programmes centred on Krishna Maharaj and Mirza Ghalib were held back to back on the same day. Mumbai-based storyteller Devi Prakash later took audiences on a journey through the world of stories.

Sharma says the ghazal has a style quite different from other forms of music, and so does its audience. A casual listener may find it hard to follow, but for true connoisseurs the evening promises to be memorable. The team says no effort has been spared in preparing for it.

Online Ticket Booking

All Details available on the organisation's website,  tickets can be booked there as well. Sharma also shared some good news about the Rotary Fellowship of International Voices and Performing Arts, calling it a major milestone for the initiative.
