Green Rail Boost: Jaisalmer–Jaipur Leelan Express to Run on Electric Engine from April
Ananya soch: (Railway Update) In a major step towards sustainable and eco-friendly transportation, Indian Railways has announced that the Jaisalmer–Jaipur Leelan Express and the Ajmer–Daund Special train will now be operated using electric engines. This move is expected to enhance efficiency while reducing carbon emissions across key routes in Rajasthan and beyond.
Electrification Drive Gains Momentum
According to Amit Sudarshan, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, the transition to electric traction is part of a broader modernization initiative. The Jaisalmer–Jaipur Leelan Express will run with an electric engine from April 3 (Jaisalmer departure) and April 1 (Jaipur departure).
Similarly, the Ajmer–Daund Special train will switch to electric operation from April 2 (Ajmer) and April 3 (Daund).
Faster, Cleaner & More Efficient Travel
The shift to electric engines will not only reduce dependency on diesel but also improve travel efficiency. Electric locomotives are known for faster acceleration, smoother rides, and lower operational costs, making them a preferred choice for modern rail networks.
What It Means for Passengers
Passengers traveling on these routes can expect a more reliable and environmentally friendly journey. The electrification also aligns with Indian Railways’ vision of achieving a greener transport system while maintaining punctuality and comfort.
