Ananya soch: A grand state dinner at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday evening turned into a celebration of Rajasthan’s rich culinary heritage, as a specially curated Rajasthani menu was served in honour of South Korean President Lee Jae-myung. Hosted by President Droupadi Murmu, the prestigious banquet was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several senior dignitaries, adding to the elegance of the evening.

The highlight of the event was an authentic yet contemporary Rajasthani feast, conceptualised by renowned chef Dr Chef Saurabh Sharma and his team. The aim was to introduce global guests to the diverse flavours of Rajasthan, reflecting its royal traditions and cultural depth. Praising the experience, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked, “It was a wonderful Rajasthani meal experience,” while Deepti Umashankar lauded the team for representing India’s culinary legacy on such a prestigious platform. Shashi Tharoor also appreciated the menu, noting its exceptional taste despite being entirely vegetarian.

A Royal Platter of Tradition and Innovation
Chef Saurabh, along with Chef Ravindra Naruka, Chef Himmat Singh, Chef Ratiram Prajapat, and Executive Chef Mukesh Kumar, crafted a menu that showcased iconic dishes from Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bikaner, and Jaipur. Signature items such as Jowar ka Raab, Govind Gatta, Dhungari Palak Mangodi, Chandi Wali Dal, Jaisalmeri Pulao, and the famed Gulab Bati-Churma captivated guests. Traditional desserts like Ghevar and Malpua added a sweet, nostalgic touch.

Months of Dedication Behind the Feast
Chef Saurabh revealed that the menu was the result of nearly one and a half months of extensive research and repeated trials. Studying traditional recipes, local ingredients, and ancient techniques, he ensured each dish maintained authenticity while embracing modern presentation. He credited his success to the unwavering support of his family.

This remarkable culinary showcase not only delighted international guests but also elevated Rajasthan’s gastronomic identity on the global stage.
