“From Equality to Empowerment”: Rajasthan Marks Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s 135th Birth Anniversary with Big Announcements
CM Bhajanlal Sharma unveils 200 e-libraries, coaching centre and ₹1363 crore DBT transfer; reiterates commitment to inclusive growth
Ananya soch: On the occasion of the 135th birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar, a grand state-level program in Jaipur highlighted Rajasthan’s commitment to social justice, empowerment, and inclusive development. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma reaffirmed that the government is working on the guiding principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” to ensure that development reaches the last person in society.
Ambedkar’s Vision at the Core of Governance
Addressing the gathering, Bhajanlal Sharma said that the teachings and vision of B. R. Ambedkar form the foundation of the government’s functioning. He emphasized that the “double engine government” is committed to uplifting the underprivileged, marginalized, and backward sections of society by ensuring social, economic, and political empowerment.
He also urged the youth to imbibe the ideals of Babasaheb and actively contribute to nation-building.
Major Announcements: E-Libraries & Residential Coaching Centre
In a significant push towards education and empowerment, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of 200 Ambedkar e-libraries in urban areas, aimed at providing digital learning resources to students.
Additionally, an Ambedkar Residential Coaching Centre will be set up at Ambedkar Peeth, Moondla (Jaipur), to support aspirants preparing for competitive exams. These initiatives are expected to open new opportunities for youth, especially from disadvantaged backgrounds.
₹1363 Crore DBT Transfer & Welfare Initiatives
Marking the occasion, Bhajanlal Sharma transferred ₹1363 crore directly to beneficiaries of pension and Palanhar schemes through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
He also inaugurated 10 hostel buildings, laid foundation stones for 17 new buildings, and virtually launched a library at the Swyamsiddha campus in Jamdoli.
An AI-based helpdesk “Samadhan Saathi” was also introduced to simplify access to government services. Financial assistance was distributed to beneficiaries under the Kanyadaan scheme, and assistive devices were provided to specially-abled individuals. Meritorious students under the Mukhyamantri Anuprati Coaching Scheme were also honored.
Inclusive Growth: Focus on Education & Welfare
Highlighting the government’s achievements, the Chief Minister stated that cases of atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have reduced by over 28%.
Under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, ₹292 crore has been spent to support 3.75 lakh SC students, while ₹534 crore has benefited 3.21 lakh ST students. Additionally, over 1.62 lakh students from extremely backward classes have received scholarships.
He further noted that thousands of beneficiaries have been supported through the Ambedkar Rajasthan Dalit-Adivasi Entrepreneurship Promotion Scheme, enabling financial independence and self-reliance.
Antyodaya in Action: Welfare Reaching the Last Mile
Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized that the state government is setting benchmarks in implementing welfare schemes with the spirit of Antyodaya. Social security pensions have been increased to ₹1450, ensuring better financial support for vulnerable groups.
Referring to the leadership of Narendra Modi, he said that flagship schemes like Swachh Bharat Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat are significantly benefiting the underprivileged.
Transparent recruitment processes have also ensured timely job opportunities, particularly benefiting youth from reserved categories.
Leaders Reiterate Commitment to Social Justice
Speaking at the event, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Avinash Gehlot said that the state government is actively working to realize Ambedkar’s vision for the welfare of marginalized communities.
Earlier, the Chief Minister visited an exhibition showcasing rare photographs from the life journey of B. R. Ambedkar and distributed assistive devices to specially-abled individuals.
