Jaipur Gears Up for a Traffic Revolution: CM Bhajanlal Sharma Unveils Smart, Strong & Future-Ready Mobility Plan

Ananya soch: Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Jaipur is set to witness a major transformation in its traffic management system. A comprehensive and future-focused action plan has been prepared to make the city’s traffic smoother, safer, and technologically advanced. This plan is based on detailed studies of traffic systems in leading metropolitan cities across India, along with extensive field visits and reviews conducted by Jaipur Traffic Police.

Stronger Administrative Structure for Faster Decisions

To improve efficiency and accountability, the administrative setup has been significantly strengthened. The number of ADCP (Traffic) posts has been increased from 2 to 4, ensuring one officer for each police district. Similarly, ACP (Traffic) posts have been doubled from 4 to 8, enabling better supervision and coordination.

Additionally, the number of Traffic Inspectors (TI) has been increased from 15 to 20. This move will enhance ground-level monitoring and ensure quicker response to traffic issues, especially during peak hours.

72 Traffic Beats to Ensure Better Area-Wise Control

Jaipur city will now be divided into 72 traffic beats, allowing for clear responsibility and improved area-wise traffic management. Personnel deployment will be optimized, ensuring effective control during rush hours. Regular monitoring, reporting, and accountability at the beat level will further strengthen the system.

Modern Technology & Smart Monitoring Systems

The plan emphasizes the use of advanced technology to streamline traffic operations. Traffic Inspectors will be equipped with 20 specially modified motorcycles, enabling quick movement in congested areas.

Real-time monitoring will be enhanced through additional CCTV cameras connected to the Abhay Command Center. Drone surveillance will also be introduced to assess congestion and manage traffic more effectively.

Furthermore, components of the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) will be implemented in a phased manner, bringing Jaipur closer to becoming a smart mobility city.

Model Traffic Corridor on Tonk Road

As part of the initial phase, Tonk Road (from Yadgar to Sanganer) will be developed as a Model Traffic Corridor. This corridor will serve as a benchmark for other major roads in the city.

Key improvements will include:

  • Scientific redesign of U-turns and crossings

  • Closure of unsafe and unnecessary median cuts

  • Development of continuous and safe footpaths for pedestrians

  • Better road engineering and junction improvements

  • Encroachment Removal & Parking Management

To reduce congestion, strict measures will be taken to remove encroachments from roads and footpaths. Illegal parking will be tackled with the deployment of additional cranes.

Clear demarcation of parking and no-parking zones, along with proper signage and development of parking facilities, will ensure smoother traffic flow.

Dynamic Traffic Signals & Infrastructure Upgrades

Traffic signal timings will be made dynamic, adjusting automatically based on real-time traffic pressure. Lane markings, zebra crossings, and stop lines will be clearly defined and reconstructed.

Scientific management of intersections and continuous infrastructure upgrades will further improve road safety and efficiency.

Performance-Based Evaluation System

To ensure accountability, a performance-based evaluation system will be introduced for officials. Regular monitoring and feedback-based improvements will help maintain high standards in traffic management.

Collaborative Effort for Lasting Change

The successful implementation of this ambitious plan will require active coordination among departments like Municipal Corporation, JDA, Transport Department, and most importantly, public cooperation. With these combined efforts, Jaipur is on track to achieve a modern, efficient, and sustainable traffic system.
