Ananya soch: In a major move to expand digital inclusion, Reliance Jio has partnered with Bank of Baroda to launch the ‘BOB World Lite’ mobile banking app for feature phone users. Designed specifically for the JioPhone Prima 4G, this initiative enables millions of users to access digital banking services without needing a smartphone.
UPI Payments, Money Transfers & Bill Payments Made Easy
The ‘BOB World Lite’ app empowers users with essential banking services such as UPI payments, fund transfers, bill payments, and other day-to-day transactions. It is optimized for low internet speeds and keypad-based devices, ensuring smooth performance even in limited connectivity areas.
Seamless Access for JioPhone Users
As part of this collaboration, the app comes pre-installed on JioPhone Prima 4G devices, allowing users to access it directly from the home screen. Existing JioPhone users can download it easily via the JioStore. Notably, the app is available not just for Bank of Baroda customers but also for users of other banks, with a simple self-registration process.
Focus on Rural & Semi-Urban India
Speaking at the launch, Sunil Dutt emphasized Jio’s commitment to making affordable digital services accessible to every Indian. This initiative is expected to significantly boost digital banking adoption in rural and semi-urban areas, where smartphone penetration remains limited.
