Rajasthan Gears Up for Census 2027 Door-to-Door Survey Phase from May 16
Over 15 Lakh Families Complete Self-Enumeration as India Moves Towards Its First Fully Digital Census
Ananya soch: Rajasthan has successfully completed the first phase of Census 2027 under the House Listing and Housing Census programme, marking a major step towards India’s first-ever fully digital population census. The self-enumeration process, conducted from May 1 to May 15, 2026, witnessed participation from nearly 15 lakh families across the state who submitted their household details through the mobile-based digital platform.
Following the completion of the self-enumeration stage, the second phase of the census drive will now begin from May 16 and continue till June 14, during which trained enumerators will visit households door-to-door to verify and collect information.
Officials stated that families who have already completed self-enumeration will have their details verified by enumerators, while households that did not participate digitally will be directly surveyed and their information uploaded on the official census portal.
During the survey, enumerators will collect responses to 33 key questions related to housing conditions and family details. These include construction materials used in floors, walls and roofs, details of the head of the family, number of family members, availability of drinking water, electricity, toilets, LPG/PNG kitchen facilities, and household assets such as television, internet access, laptops, bicycles, cars and other vehicles. Information regarding primary food grains consumed and mobile contact numbers will also be gathered.
Director of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics and Joint Government Secretary Vinesh Singhal appealed to residents to fully cooperate with census personnel for the successful implementation of Census 2027. Citizens have been urged to provide accurate information and allow enumerators access to their homes and premises to ensure transparent and reliable data collection.
