Ananya soch: Rajasthan is accelerating towards becoming a powerhouse of economic growth, with the “Vyapar Rajasthan 2026” event placing the automobile retail sector at the center of its development strategy. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized that progressive policy decisions by the state government have unlocked vast opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs across the state.
He highlighted that the automobile retail sector is emerging as a crucial growth engine for a developed Rajasthan, contributing significantly to economic expansion, employment generation, and revenue growth. The government, he assured, is committed to providing robust infrastructure and essential resources to all stakeholders in the sector.
Auto Retail: The New Growth Engine of Rajasthan
Speaking at the event organized by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations, the Chief Minister noted that the automobile retail industry is playing a transformative role in accelerating Rajasthan’s economic progress.
He called upon automobile dealers and entrepreneurs to actively contribute to strengthening the state’s economy, emphasizing that their participation is key to sustaining growth momentum.
Landmark Policy Reforms Fueling the Sector
In a major reform move, the state government has empowered authorized vehicle dealers with registration rights equivalent to District Transport Officers for non-transport vehicles. This step has significantly streamlined processes and reduced bureaucratic delays.
Further, the entire vehicle registration process has been made completely online and paperless through digital portals, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and ease of doing business. Additionally, vehicle manufacturers have also been granted registration powers, boosting operational flexibility within the sector.
Dealers are now also authorized to install High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) at the point of registration, enhancing convenience for consumers.
Digital Leap: 53 Services Now Online
Marking a major milestone in digital governance, 53 out of 58 services available on the Vehicle and Sarathi portals have been brought online. This transformation allows citizens and dealers to access services seamlessly from anywhere, reducing physical visits and saving time.
The government has also enabled online issuance of trade certificates for used car dealers, further formalizing and organizing the pre-owned vehicle market.
Used Car Policy: Transparency Meets Trust
Recognizing the growing importance of the pre-owned vehicle segment, the state has introduced a structured policy for used cars. This initiative aims to regulate the market, protect consumers from fraud, and ensure fair practices.
At the same time, it is expected to generate additional revenue for the state while building trust among buyers and sellers.
Auto Retail Zones: A Smart Urban Solution
To address rising urban traffic challenges, the Chief Minister proposed the development of dedicated auto retail zones. These zones will not only streamline traffic management but also provide dealers with an organized business environment.
For consumers, this means access to multiple vehicle-related services at a single location, enhancing convenience and overall experience.
Investment Surge & Employment Growth
Highlighting Rajasthan’s rising investment appeal, the Chief Minister stated that Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹35 lakh crore have been signed under the “Rising Rajasthan” initiative, with over ₹9 lakh crore already materializing on the ground.
The automobile retail sector, with thousands of dealers across the state, is generating lakhs of direct and indirect employment opportunities. It also plays a significant role in boosting GST revenue, making it a key pillar of the state’s economy.
Skill Development Strengthening the Workforce
