Jaipur's Young Stars Bring Yamraj, Forgetful Villagers & More to Life on Stage in Magical Theatre Showcase

Ananya soch: What happens when imagination is handed entirely to children? Jaipur got the answer on Thursday evening at the Rangayan Auditorium, Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKC), where 315 young performers from the Junior Summer Camp 2026's theatre section staged 10 original plays — every single one written, conceptualised, and performed by the kids themselves after a month-long workshop.

What made the evening truly special was the sheer range of themes the children explored. While 'Ajab Hai Mela: Yamraj Ka Khel' reimagined the god of death through a child's lens of wonder and humour, 'Joshi Parivar Ki Sanskari Bahu' took a light-hearted dig at family dynamics. Plays like 'Jhooth Ke Bina Ek Din' and 'Kaash Hum Bade Hote' captured the innocent desires of childhood and the consequences of truth-telling with surprising depth for such young performers. Other standout acts included 'Ukiyo' by team Little Ninjas, 'Jadui Dhaga' by Siren, and equally engaging performances by Doorbeen, Machhardani, Teesri Ghanti, Jhamela, iBrows, and Caravan — each bringing its own flavour of comedy, social commentary, and family bonds to the stage.

The audience couldn't stop praising the confidence and stage presence these young actors displayed — skills far beyond their years. Adding to the occasion's significance, JKC Additional Director General Gopal Ram Birda and Senior Accounts Officer Bindu Bhobhariya were present to witness the performances, and both lauded the children's creative efforts and encouraged them to keep pursuing the arts.

Here's the good news for those who missed Thursday's show: all 10 plays will be re-staged on June 19 and 20, 2026, at 6:30 PM at the Rangayan Auditorium. So if you couldn't catch the magic the first time around, there's still a chance to watch Jaipur's youngest storytellers light up the stage — and this time, bring the whole family along.
