A Lifetime Dedicated to Rajasthani Folk Music
K.C. Malu has played an extraordinary role in taking Rajasthani folk music to national and international platforms—entirely through self-driven efforts without government support. His relentless dedication has not only popularized the rich musical heritage of Rajasthan globally but has also provided countless folk artists with recognition, opportunities, and livelihoods.
Recognized as one of India’s cultural torchbearers, Malu has previously been honoured with the prestigious “Rajasthan Ratna” by the Government of Rajasthan. He has also received numerous state, national, and international accolades for his contribution to art and culture.
Preserving Heritage Through Innovation
Malu’s association with legendary music composer Naushad helped elevate Rajasthani music to new heights. He is also credited with establishing institutions like Sur-Sangam and the renowned Veena Music Group, both dedicated to promoting indigenous music.
One of his remarkable achievements includes the creation of the world’s largest compilation of 221 Rajasthani wedding songs, published in three languages—Hindi, English, and Rajasthani—along with 24 audio-video CDs.
Beyond Music: A Commitment to Society
Apart from his cultural contributions, Malu has actively contributed to social development. In his hometown Sujangarh (Churu), he organized the grand Sukhshem Festival to reconnect local talents with their roots. He is also playing a key role in building a 300-bed hospital worth ₹250 crore, showcasing his commitment to giving back to society.
