Diya Kumari Cracks Down on Ravindra Manch: Broken Facilities Spark Action, Self-Sustainable Cultural Hub Planned
A surprise inspection by Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari at Ravindra Manch exposed months of poor maintenance, including non-functional Air Conditioners, broken chairs and deteriorating infrastructure. Calling the condition "unacceptable," she directed officials to go beyond Renovation and implement a long-term Maintenance Plan aimed at transforming Jaipur's iconic cultural venue into a Self-Sustainable Cultural Hub.
Ananya soch: In a strong message to the administration, Deputy CM Diya Kumari, who also holds the Art, Literature, Culture and Archaeology portfolio, conducted an inspection of Ravindra Manch at Ram Niwas Bagh, Jaipur on Monday afternoon. The inspection revealed several glaring issues, including Air Conditioners that had remained non-functional for nearly six months, damaged seating, peeling plaster and poor upkeep across the premises.
Expressing disappointment, Diya Kumari said Ravindra Manch is far more than just an auditorium—it is one of Rajasthan's most significant Cultural Landmarks. She instructed officials to immediately improve the existing facilities while preparing a comprehensive Renovation and Maintenance Strategy to ensure such negligence is not repeated.
She also emphasized that the venue should evolve into a modern Cultural Centre capable of hosting year-round Cultural Events, theatre performances, music festivals and art exhibitions. According to her vision, better infrastructure, professional management and continuous bookings can help the venue become a Self-Sustainable Model, reducing its dependence on government support.
The Deputy CM questioned how the auditorium had fallen into disrepair despite crores of rupees being spent on renovation just a few years ago. She directed officials to prepare a Long-Term Maintenance Plan instead of relying only on repair work, stressing that public assets require continuous monitoring and accountability.
Diya Kumari reiterated that providing world-class facilities for artists, cultural institutions and audiences remains a priority for the state government. The proposed redevelopment aims to enhance Visitor Experience, attract larger cultural events and strengthen Jaipur's reputation as one of India's leading Arts and Culture destinations.
With strict deadlines expected for the renovation roadmap, the focus now shifts to how quickly the government can restore Ravindra Manch and turn it into a vibrant, modern and self-reliant cultural destination.
